Cooking for Someone is the Ultimate "I Love You"
There are a thousand ways to say "I care about you." You can send a text, buy a gift, or offer a tight hug. But in my book, nothing quite matches the quiet, fierce devotion of standing over a hot stove and making a meal for someone you love.

Think about what actually goes into cooking a meal from scratch. It starts long before the flame is lit. It begins with a thought: What would make them happy today? It involves going to the store, picking out the best produce, bringing it home, and spending your afternoon chopping, stirring, tasting, and adjusting.

When you cook for someone, you are giving them your time—the one resource you can never get back. You are using your own two hands to create something that will physically nourish their body and comfort their mind. It is a completely selfless act of generosity.

You don't need to be a master chef to speak this love language. The beauty isn't in the perfection of the plate; it’s in the intention behind it. It’s the extra slice of love packed into a partner’s morning sandwich. It’s the container of homemade chicken noodle soup dropped off on a sick friend’s doorstep. It’s the elaborate, chaotic birthday dinner requested by a sibling.

When we sit down and hand someone a plate we made just for them, we are saying, “I want you to be well. I want you to feel cared for. I want to look after you.” It is a love language that doesn't require a single word to be perfectly understood. The next time you find yourself cooking for the people in your life, remember that you aren't just making food—you are serving up a piece of your heart.
