The Garden of the Levant

The Garden of the Levant

If you think a salad is just a side dish, you haven't sat at a Lebanese table. Here, the greens are the stars, the olive oil is liquid gold, and a 'quick lunch' can easily last four hours.

We conclude our series in Lebanon. If Egyptian food is earthy and Saudi food is aromatic, Lebanese food is vibrant. It is a kitchen of the mountains and the sea, characterized by fresh herbs and the sophisticated art of the Mezze.

The Art of the Lebanese Table

  • The Mezze: A social ritual of small plates, featuring Tabbouleh (90% parsley, 10% bulgur) and Kibbeh, the national pride made of minced meat and cracked wheat.

  • Manakish: The scent of the Levantine morning—fresh dough topped with Za'atar and olive oil.

  • Warak Enab: Stuffed grape leaves that require hours of patient rolling, symbolizing the love and care of the Lebanese household.

Lebanese dining is about "Safa"—the clarity of mind found in good company, fresh air, and the "Mountain to the Table" lifestyle.

Our journey across the Middle East has taken us from the Nile to the Desert, and finally to the Mediterranean coast. While the ingredients change, the spirit remains the same: a plate is never just a plate; it’s an invitation.

In Lebanon, they say “Sahtein”—a wish for you to eat not just with your mouth, but with two healths: one for the body and one for the soul.

As we wrap up this series, we want to know: Which flavor is calling your name? Are you craving the heart of Egypt, the spice of Saudi, or the freshness of Lebanon?
